People seek therapy for a wide variety of reasons, from coping with major life challenges or childhood trauma to dealing with depression or anxiety, to simply desiring personal growth and greater self-knowledge.

Individual psychotherapy is a process through which clients work one-on-one with a trained therapist — in a safe, caring, and confidential environment — to explore their feelings, beliefs and coping mechanisms and to consider working through challenging or traumatic memories and identify aspects of their lives that they would like to change, better understand themselves and others, set personal goals, and work toward desired change.

Therapy can help people confront barriers that interfere with emotional and mental well-being, and it can also increase positive feelings such as compassion, self-esteem, love, courage, and peace. Many people find they enjoy the therapeutic journey of becoming more self-aware, and they may pursue ongoing psychotherapy as a means of self-growth and self-actualization.  A client and therapist may work together for as few as five or six sessions or as long as several years, depending on the client’s unique needs and personal goals for therapy.

How do we start the process?

You will be required to attend three 60 minute therapy sessions where you will be providing detailed information about your history that includes family history, education history, occupational history, financial history, medical history, trauma history, relationship history, psychiatric history, country conditions, etc.

After the third session, I provide a comprehensive, written report that will be generated within 2 to 3 weeks outlining important background information, current stressors and functioning, clinical conclusions and recommendations to support and strengthen your immigration waiver case.

Online Therapy

Some of the advantages of online therapy include:

  • Easier to access for those with geographical restrictions

  • Less expensive than seeing a therapist in person

  • Convenient for those with time constraints

  • More appealing to people who fear the stigma of seeking out therapy

  • Greater comfort – some people prefer talking to a therapist from the comfort of their own home

What do I need?

If you do the online consultation at a hospital or clinic, they will provide everything for you.

If you do the online consultation at home, you will need to have:

  • a quiet, private room

  • a fast, reliable internet connection

  • a computer, tablet or smartphone (your psychiatrist will tell you which devices will work with their software).

“Connection is the energy that is created between people when they are seen, heard, and valued—when they can give and receive without judgement.”
